Luke does dances

Choreography

Luke has been implicit in the conception, creation and realisation of a multitude of productions, including:

Likeness:

Solo

Commissioned by Canterbury Festival (Made In Kent)

Performed at The Place, Siobhan Davies Dance

Likeness is a solo work combining devised text recorded as spoken word alongside intricate choreography and improvised movement from Luke Birch.

Operating between roles of performer/author/protagonist/witness, exploring the relationship between text and movement. Cliched metaphors, danced poems and flickering images ask the viewer questions about the need for meaning, understanding and narrative.

Layers of meaning are woven together and peeled away as spoken word and physical language meet, collide and collapse.
